For most people the answer is the River Diva dinner cruise with unlimited drinks: two and a half hours on the river, a seasonal buffet, an open bar brought to your table and a rooftop deck for the floodlit Parliament, at $111 a head on dates we checked. If you want a seated four-course dinner, a folk show, the lowest price or wine at the centre of the evening, one of the cruises below fits better.

Pick by what matters most
A long evening with drinks included: River Diva
The River Diva cruise is the one where you stop counting. The buffet changes with the season and includes vegetarian dishes, the bar covers cocktails, wine, Prosecco and beer, and staff bring drinks to the table, so you are not queuing while the Parliament slides past. It boards at Akadémia 3, by the Chain Bridge. Tables are allocated by group size, so book your party together. Our River Diva review →
A proper seated dinner for two: Legenda
On the Legenda candlelit cruise you choose each of four courses from a menu at the table, with a welcome drink and live music from Hungarian musicians. It is the most restaurant-like of the group, and at 2.5 hours it gives the meal room to breathe. Drinks after the first are paid on board, and the kitchen cannot do a vegan menu. Our Legenda review →
Hungarian music and dancing with dinner
Two cruises put a folk show at the centre. The 4-course folk dance cruise from Dock 6 near Vigadó tér runs two hours with four Hungarian menus, one of them vegetarian, and live folk music and dance. The Rajkó orchestra cruise from Akadémia 2 is shorter and cheaper, with the cimbalom and a dance show on a historic ship. Our folk show cruise guide compares them in detail.
The lowest price with real Hungarian food: gulyás and lángos
The gulyás and lángos cruise is not a full dinner. You get a bowl of goulash soup, a lángos (fried dough, usually with sour cream and cheese) or both, a welcome drink and the Rajkó ensemble, on a 90-minute 7pm sailing. At $49 it is the cheapest way to eat on the river. Our review →
A guaranteed window table: Silverline with the window option
Almost every operator says window seats cannot be promised. Silverline sells one as an option on its dinner and folk show cruise, at $130 against $102 for the standard table. If the view is the point of the evening for you, that is the cleanest way to secure it. Our review →
Wine at the centre of the evening
The wine and dine cruise pairs five Hungarian wines from five regions with five small dishes, with a short talk on each wine. It is a tasting more than a dinner. For a full buffet with unlimited wine, the gourmet dinner cruise from near Margaret Bridge scores 4.9, but from only 16 reviews, so treat that figure as early.
No dinner at all
If you have already eaten, a drinks cruise gives you the same lights for far less. The unlimited Prosecco cruise runs 75 minutes for $28, and the night sightseeing cruise runs about an hour for $12 with one welcome drink. Our guide to dinner cruises versus night sightseeing cruises weighs the two.
Know before you book
- The pier depends on the operator. River Diva, the Rajkó cruises and the wine cruise board at the Akadémia pontoons by the Chain Bridge; the folk dance cruise uses Dock 6 near Vigadó tér; Silverline and Legenda have their own piers on the Pest embankment; the gourmet cruise boards near Margaret Bridge. The voucher names the dock. Our what to expect guide covers arrival times.
- Only two dinner cruises include unlimited drinks. River Diva and the gourmet cruise (wine only). Everywhere else it is a welcome drink, then a bar tab on board.
- Window tables are not promised unless you buy one, as on the Silverline option above.
- Some headline prices are lower than any real date. The folk dance cruise shows “from $74” but sold at $99 on every date we checked. The calendar on each listing shows the price for your night.
- Vegans have fewer options. Legenda cannot provide a vegan menu. The folk dance cruise and the Rajkó cruise both offer a vegetarian set menu, and the River Diva buffet includes vegetarian dishes.
