How Booking a Festive Cruise Works
Four steps from choosing a date to stepping off at the pier.
Pick your evening
Choose the cruise and a date in the live calendar. Most boats sail once or twice an evening; the calendar shows the real times and the price for that night.
Get your voucher
Confirmation and a mobile voucher arrive by email straight away. It names the exact pier, which differs by operator, so check it before you set out.
Board on the Pest bank
Arrive 20 to 30 minutes early. Staff scan the voucher at the pontoon and show you to your table, which is allocated by group size.
Dine, sail, step off
Dinner is served while the boat loops past the Parliament and Buda Castle, then returns to the same pier. Free cancellation runs until 24 hours before.

Choosing
Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve?
For Christmas Eve, book Silverline’s Christmas dinner and piano cruise: three hours on the river, a four-course festive dinner, a welcome drink and live piano, for $219 per person on 24 December 2026, or $280 with a table by the window. For New Year’s Eve, the New Year’s Eve party cruise is a six-hour night with a gala dinner, an open bar, a folk dance show and a midnight menu, at $404 per person.
They suit different people. Christmas Eve is a long, quiet sit-down dinner for couples and families, with drinks paid on top. New Year’s Eve is a party where everything is included and the river is part of the backdrop rather than the whole show.
Christmas Eve: a long dinner with the lights
Silverline sails a catamaran decorated for the holiday from its pier on the Pest side near Elisabeth Bridge. Three hours is longer than any of the year-round dinner cruises we review, so there is time between courses to look out at the bridges and the Parliament. The dress code is smart casual, and the listing asks guests to dress warmly. Give any dietary needs when you book.
The weak point is drinks. Only the welcome drink is included, and the lower reviews (the cruise averages 4.0 from 59) come back to paying separately for wine and even coffee at this price, plus one guest who found the meal ordinary. Most reviewers praise the service, the piano and the atmosphere. Budget for a bottle of wine on top of the ticket and the evening reads differently. Our full Christmas Eve review →
The listing mentions 25 December as well, but only the 24th was on sale when we checked in October. If you are in Budapest over Christmas and the 25th does not appear, an ordinary dinner cruise on the 23rd or 26th is the fallback. The comparison of every dinner cruise shows which ones run year round.
New Year’s Eve: a six-hour party on board
The New Year’s Eve cruise boards at the Akadémia 2 pontoon by the Chain Bridge in the early evening. You choose a red-meat, poultry or vegetarian gala menu after booking, the bar covers beer, wine and prosecco all night, and the Rajkó Ensemble plays and dances before the party takes over. A midnight menu of soups and sausages follows, and there is a raffle.
Two things to know before you pay $404. The boat sails for two one-hour sections, so this is a party with the river outside, not six hours of cruising. And the cruise averages 4.1 from 52 reviews: the complaints are main courses arriving cold and chilly tables near the entrance and the bar, so ask for a table away from the door. Plan your way home before the night, as transfers are not included. Our full New Year’s Eve review →
Other festive sailings on sale
A few more listings appear each December with very few reviews so far. Another Christmas dinner cruise with folk music ($146, two reviews) and an exclusive New Year’s Eve dinner cruise ($307, three reviews) both look promising, and a gala New Year’s Eve cruise at $920 has no reviews yet. We have not reviewed them in depth, because three reviews tell you very little.
Booking early
Each of these runs on one night only, and both offer free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure, with reserve-now, pay-later on New Year’s Eve. Booking in October or November and cancelling if plans change costs nothing. For the season itself, our guide to the best time for a Budapest dinner cruise covers December evenings on the river.

What Christmas Eve Guests Say
Ratings and review counts are the operators' live figures on GetYourGuide and may shift slightly day to day.
"We had a really enjoyable evening. The food was very good and the service was fantastic. Very relaxed atmosphere with live music."
"The view of the illuminated city is excellent. The table by the window was great. Was the food good. the staff was friendly and the service was efficient. Even though I really liked it, I think the price is too expensive."
"The activity is a candlelight dinner by the Danube. The dinner was very good, the people were very friendly and happy, the atmosphere was first class with piano music. We had a great time"
"It was magical: between the quality meal, the scenery throughout and the show! No complaints. 3 hours is just perfect to enjoy it."
"Fantastic cruise , the crew are on top 🔝 good food and fantastic piano bar"
"We had a very good experience. They responded everything from event's description."
"We really liked the boat and dinner, the atmosphere was great, and everything was beautifully decorated. What I didn't like was that the drinks weren't included in the price, since you pay quite a lot and then you have to pay for the drinks separately. It only includes a welcome drink, but you have to pay for the rest of the drinks and coffee separately. With what they charge you (I paid 425 euros for 2 window seats) everything should be included. The staff was very attentive and friendly, and everything was very punctual."
"Fairy night cruise but the meal was average both qualitatively and quantitatively."

Christmas and New Year's Eve Cruise FAQ
Dates, drinks, dress and getting home afterwards.
Yes. Silverline runs a three-hour Christmas Eve dinner cruise with four courses, a welcome drink and live piano music. On 24 December 2026 it cost $219 per person, or $280 with a window table, when we checked in October.
The Silverline listing mentions 25 December, but only 24 December 2026 was on sale when we checked. Look at the live calendar before planning around Christmas Day, and book an ordinary dinner cruise for the 23rd or 26th if it is not offered.
The New Year's Eve party cruise includes a five-course gala dinner, unlimited beer, wine and prosecco, live music and a folk dance show, a midnight menu and a raffle. It cost $404 per person for 31 December 2026.
The evening runs about six hours, but the listing counts two one-hour sightseeing sections. Dinner, the show and the party fill the rest of the night, so expect two stretches of cruising rather than six hours of moving scenery.
Only a welcome drink. Wine, other drinks and coffee are paid on board, which is the most common complaint in its reviews. If an open bar matters to you, the New Year's Eve cruise includes one, and on ordinary evenings the River Diva cruise does.
Silverline asks for smart casual on Christmas Eve and asks guests to dress warmly. Bring a coat if you want to step out on deck at midnight on New Year's Eve. Our what to wear guide covers the details.
Both listings offer free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure, and the New Year's Eve cruise also lets you reserve now and pay later. That makes it sensible to book early and cancel if your plans change.
